Kundalini and The Holy Spirit -- Kundalini y el Espíritu Santo

Kundalini is a complex and mysterious subject.  Be weary of people who give simple, boxed-in explanations of this occult force.  However, broadly speaking, I typically define Kundalini as the evolutionary force of Supreme Consciousness.  With that said, it’s far more complicated than my basic definition implies.  But generally speaking Kundalini is the force of spiritual transformation…it is responsible for making important changes in our physiology, brain structure, and chakras/nadis that result in a greater capacity to experience higher states of consciousness and Being.  Without these vital changes, our spiritual evolution would be impossible.  Therefore, we can say with certainty that Kundalini is involved in our spiritual evolution and path toward enlightenment.  However, when we begin to discuss exactly how it is involved and exactly what its role is, we get into the speculative metaphysical weeds.  Anyone claiming to understand Kundalini completely is full of it.

Kundalini has its correlate in Christianity; The Holy Spirit.  However, there are some differences in how we typically think about Kundalini versus The Holy Spirit.  It’s beyond the scope of this short blog post to discuss the many differences.  I would rather focus on the similarities or the characteristics that they both have in common.  It is my contention that both are associated with eliciting change or transformation, both are considered intelligent in their own way, and both create physical and energetic/ecstatic happenings in humans.

The Holy Spirit is considered one part of the tripartite Holy Trinity in the Christian tradition.  Many people are surprised to find out that the Trinity is not mentioned anywhere in the Bible.  It was the invention of the early orthodox Christian church.  In the context of the Trinity, The Holy Spirit is considered to be God, or at least one third of God.  However, in the Bible, this was not the case.  It was considered to be God in action in the mundane world.  In other words, The Holy Spirit of the Bible is a transformational figure…it is that force of God that is active in the world causing change, positive evolution, and healing.

Kundalini is intelligent.  It has a mind of its own.  Likewise, The Holy Spirit is guided by the intelligence of the Lord.  Both are said to be at work in the physical world and physical body as a means of intelligently guided change and transformation.  Many people obsess over how to control Kundalini and bring it upwards toward the higher chakras…this is a very base and childlike understanding of Kundalini.  One need not control Kundalini, as it has its own intelligence and knows exactly what to do in our body, brain, nervous system, chakras, and nadis to create a higher capacity for experiencing elevated states of consciousness and Being.  All one must really do is support the process of Kundalini and surrender to it.  If we are meditating daily to a stage of superconsciousness the Kundalini process will be far more effortless and natural.  However, when we are not doing the necessary things to support the Kundalini process, we may experience discomfort and unnecessary suffering.

Both Kundalini and The Holy Spirit cause energetic happenings in humans that can and do result in experiences of ecstasy and bliss.  As yogis, we like to stand up in our high spiritual ivory towers and look down our noses at the evangelical Christians as they writhe around on the floor speaking in tongues as they are baptized by The Holy Spirit.  However, anyone who has ever experienced the transference of Shakti-pat from a real Master knows that the experience is similar to that of the evangelicals.  Shakti-pat is Kundalini that a Guru can transmit to the student.  This transmission awakens the dormant Kundalini in the student and produces automatic kriyas or physical and energetic happenings that often times result in rolling around on the ground in ecstasy much like a Church of God member on Sunday mornings.   

In closing, there are many similarities between Kundalini from the Eastern tradition and The Holy Spirit from the Western tradition.  The question is how can we awaken Kundalini or The Holy Spirit in our Beings so that it can begin its evolutionary processes in us.  There are various ways to do this successfully.  However, there are some ways that are far safer, albeit slower, than others.  Likewise, there are ways that are riddled with dangers but work faster.  I highly recommend the safer and steadier route of yoga, pranayama, meditation, and chanting.  I also recommend a light, vegetarian diet.  It is possible to awaken Kundalini through the use of powerful chemicals found in many so called Sacred Plant Medicines.  However, the problem with this method is that generally the person taking a trip does not have any spiritual or philosophical context in which to put their experiences and they usually end up more confused than they were before their trip even under the guidance of a well-intentioned shaman.

The preparatory work is just as important as the awakening of Kundalini itself.  Due to a severe lack of spiritual education in the world, most seekers are not made aware of this fact.  Also, without preparatory work, seekers are almost guaranteed to go back to old habits and not make any important changes in their lives that will result in lasting soul satisfaction.  Also, drugs create dependency on chemicals to have spiritual experiences…this is to be avoided.   OM.  PEACE.  AMEN.

Kundalini es un tema complejo y misterioso. Esté cansado de las personas que dan explicaciones simples y encajonadas de esta fuerza oculta. Sin embargo, en términos generales, típicamente defino a Kundalini como la fuerza evolutiva de la Conciencia Suprema. Dicho esto, es mucho más complicado de lo que implica mi definición básica. Pero en términos generales, Kundalini es la fuerza de la transformación espiritual ... es responsable de realizar cambios importantes en nuestra fisiología, estructura cerebral y chakras / nadis que resultan en una mayor capacidad para experimentar estados superiores de conciencia y Ser. Sin estos cambios vitales, nuestra evolución espiritual sería imposible. Por lo tanto, podemos decir con certeza que Kundalini está involucrada en nuestra evolución espiritual y nuestro camino hacia la iluminación. Sin embargo, cuando empezamos a discutir exactamente cómo está involucrado y cuál es exactamente su papel, nos metemos en las malezas metafísicas especulativas. Cualquiera que afirme entender a Kundalini completamente está lleno de eso.

Fue considerado como Dios en acción en el mundo terrenal. En otras palabras, el Espíritu Santo de la Biblia es una figura transformadora ... es esa fuerza de Dios que está activa en el mundo causando cambios, evolución positiva y sanación.

Kundalini es inteligente. Tiene una mente propia. Asimismo, el Espíritu Santo es guiado por la inteligencia del Señor. Se dice que ambos están trabajando en el mundo físico y en el cuerpo físico como un medio de cambio y transformación guiados inteligentemente. Muchas personas se obsesionan con la forma de controlar Kundalini y elevarla hacia los chakras superiores ... esta es una comprensión muy básica e infantil de Kundalini. Uno no necesita controlar Kundalini, ya que tiene su propia inteligencia y sabe exactamente qué hacer en nuestro cuerpo, cerebro, sistema nervioso, chakras y nadis para crear una mayor capacidad para experimentar estados elevados de conciencia y Ser. Todo lo que uno debe hacer es apoyar el proceso de Kundalini y rendirse a él. Si meditamos diariamente en una etapa de superconsciencia, el proceso de Kundalini será mucho más fácil y natural. Sin embargo, cuando no estamos haciendo las cosas necesarias para apoyar el proceso de Kundalini, podemos experimentar incomodidad y sufrimiento innecesario.

Tanto Kundalini como el Espíritu Santo causan sucesos energéticos en los seres humanos que pueden dar como resultado experiencias de éxtasis y felicidad. Como yoguis, nos gusta pararnos en nuestras altas torres de marfil espirituales y mirar por encima de nuestras narices a los cristianos evangélicos mientras se retuercen en el suelo hablando en lenguas mientras son bautizados por el Espíritu Santo. Sin embargo, cualquiera que haya experimentado la transferencia de Shakti-pat de un verdadero Maestro sabe que la experiencia es similar a la de los evangélicos. Shakti-pat es Kundalini que un Gurú puede transmitir al estudiante. Esta transmisión despierta a la Kundalini inactiva en el estudiante y produce kriyas automáticos o sucesos físicos y energéticos que a menudo dan como resultado rodar por el suelo en éxtasis como un miembro de la Iglesia de Dios los domingos por la mañana.

Para concluir, hay muchas similitudes entre Kundalini de la tradición oriental y El Espíritu Santo de la tradición occidental. La pregunta es cómo podemos despertar Kundalini o El Espíritu Santo en nuestros Seres para que puedan comenzar sus procesos evolutivos en nosotros. Hay varias formas de hacerlo con éxito. Sin embargo, hay algunas formas que son mucho más seguras, aunque más lentas, que otras. Del mismo modo, hay formas que están plagadas de peligros pero que funcionan más rápido. Recomiendo la ruta más segura y constante del yoga, el pranayama, la meditación y el canto. También recomiendo una dieta ligera, vegetariana. Es posible despertar Kundalini mediante el uso de productos químicos poderosos que se encuentran en muchos de los llamados medicamentos de plantas sagradas. Sin embargo, el problema con este método es que, en general, la persona que realiza un viaje no tiene ningún contexto espiritual o filosófico en el que exponer sus experiencias y, por lo general, termina más confundida que antes de su viaje.

El trabajo preparatorio es tan importante como el despertar de Kundalini. Debido a una grave falta de educación espiritual en el mundo, la mayoría de los buscadores no son conscientes de este hecho. Además, sin trabajo preparatorio, los buscadores tienen casi la garantía de volver a los viejos hábitos y no realizar cambios importantes en sus vidas que resulten en una satisfacción duradera para el alma. Además, las drogas crean dependencia de los productos químicos para tener experiencias espirituales ... esto debe evitarse. OM.  PAZ.  AMEN.
